PERRY FARRELL's SATELLITE PARTY: First Video Posted Online
May 1, 2007SATELLITE PARTY, the new project led by JANE'S ADDICTION frontman Perry Farrell, has made its first video, "Wish upon a Dog Star", available for viewing at Yahoo! Music. The track comes off the group's debut album, "Ultra Payloaded", due on May 29 via Columbia Records. Joining Farrell are ex-EXTREME guitarist Nuno Bettencourt, as well as newcomers Kevin Figg on drums, Etty Lau Farrell (Farrell's wife) on background vocals and Carl Restivo on keyboards and bass.
Farrell previously told AOL Music that the album, his first post-JANE'S project, brought him back to his roots. "We actually started making music in my garage," he said. "It was garage for about a year. [And] it felt like a rebirth in the sense that I had no ties musically or emotionally to anybody, "It was during that period Bettencourt, whom Farrell met at Tom Morello's house, came on board and the project evolved. "Once Nuno started to play on it, it started to take that life that I've always prayed, 'Man, I want to get my music to this place.'"
The record also features a plethora of guests, from Fergie and NEW ORDER's Peter Hook, to dance duo HYBRID AND THIEVERY CORPORATION, but Farrell said there was one friend in particular whose appearance meant a lot to him. "When I was at my lowest and I simply just wanted to go surf with him, Flea started writing with me," Farrell recalls of the CHILI PEPPERS bassist, who appears on 'Milky Ave.' and 'Hard Life Easy', which also features John Frusciante. "He said, 'Let's write some songs.' He was the one. He actually blessed me by giving me music to work on."
